[Reel Pizza] schedule May 23 - June 12

Hi everyone

Here is the schedule which runs from May 23  - June 12, for your planning purposes.

A few notes from us to you:  Once (if?) the weather warms up we will transition from a heated to an air-conditioned establishment.  I am ready!!

We are excited to welcome back our friends at ImprovAcadia for another season of ImproVision, our occasional collaboration between their comic talents and Chris's B Movie collection.  In a  randomly selected genre determined by a spin of the wheel, this ever-changing group of up-and-coming talents improvise - on the fly - the dialogue, sounds, songs and music to a cheesy movie, played without sound,  that they have never seen before.  It is a new show every time and always a lot of fun.   The first one is Friday June 6 at 11pm.

We have some special new pizzas to try.  They will be available on a rotating basis over the summer.
DELICATESSEN
Corned Beef, Sauerkraut, Swiss Cheese and 1000 Island Dressing
EL MARIACHI
Seasoned Hamburger, Onion, Tomato, Salsa, Jack Cheese, Lettuce and Chips
PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT

WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM

And Hurrah!  Colin returns from his travels this weekend.  Be sure to welcome him home when you see him next.

Happy Memorial Day weekend to you all
-Lisa

Friday May 23 - Thurs May 29
THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL  (R)  99min   6:00 and 8:30
This irresistibly charming and funny adventure caper is set in a fictional European alpine country between the two World Wars, and recounts the tale of a lowly lobby boy Zero (Tony Revolori) and his escapades with his trusted friend and mentor, legendary concierge Gustave H (Ralph Feinnes).  These include the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune.  With his trademark idiosyncratic style, inventive and whimsical director Wes Anderson (Moonrise Kingdom, The Fantastic Mr. Fox) has made another original film full of humor and thoughtfulness. trailer

Friday May 23 - Thurs June 5
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST  (PG-13)  131min   5:30 and 8:15
BRAND NEW!  In this new X-MEN movie, director Bryan Singer returns, and the characters from the original trilogy are joined by their younger selves in an epic ensemble.  Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is sent to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.  They must change the past to save the future, fighting a war to insure the survival of the species across two time periods.   trailer

Friday May 30 - Thurs June 5
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST  (PG-13)  131min   5:30 and 8:15
plays another week.

Friday May 30 - Monday June 2
ROB THE MOB  (R)  104min  6:00 and 8:30
Based on an entertaining true story, this infectious and hilarious crime caper follow the antics of two incompetent but charming, low-level crooks who are trying to go straight, but just can’t seem to handle it.  Tommy (Michael Pitt) and Rosie (Nina Arianda) are total love-birds who become engrossed with the testimony at the landmark trial of a hit man that is likely to bring down Mafia boss John Gotti, and discover a detail that sets their new plan in motion.  Director Raymond De Fellitta’s previous film was the delightful City Island; this new film also co-stars Andy Garcia, as well as Ray Romano and Griffin Dunne.  trailer

Tuesday June 3 - Thursday June 5
ALAN PARTRIDGE  (R)  90min   6:00 and 8:00
Comic genius Steve Coogan (Night at the Museum, Philomena) is beloved across the pond for his singular creation, Alan Partridge, a staple of both British TV and radio for the past two plus decades.  Cowardly, egomaniacal, petty, and socially inappropriate, Mr. Partridge is a longtime broadcast personality who finds himself at the center of a siege, as his station has just come under new management and they have fired his co-worker (Colm Meaney), a folksy and decent widower who takes the station and its employees hostage in protest.  Partridge, who happened to be out of the building at the time of the takeover, is called to negotiate.  Director and series co-creator Declan Lowney has co-written the hilarious script with Armando Iannucci (In the Loop, TV’s Veep).  trailer

Friday June 6
IMPROVISION  (NR)  11pm

Friday June 6 - Monday June 9
JOE  (R)  116min
This satisfying and atmospheric drama features an affecting portrayal by Nicolas Cage returning to his indie roots.  He plays a hot-tempered and violence pron but good-natured crew boss who meets a hard luck kid (Tye Sheridan, Mud) with an abusive alcoholic father.  He tries to stay out of the kid’s troubles but finds himself becoming his protector, causing other problems.  Director David Gordon Green (Prince Avalanche) has made a powerful film about the reality of the rural South’s underclass whose authenticity comes from a cast of non-actors.   trailer

Tuesday June 10 - Thursday June 12
THE UNKNOWN KNOWN  (PG-13)  96min
Expert and Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Errol Morris (The Fog of War) takes on long serving Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, who served for Presidents George W. Bush and Gerald Ford, as well as other executive level jobs in the Nixon and Reagan administrations.  This unsettling but smartly constructed and fascinating film, based on an extended interview lasting thirty three hours over eleven days and covering Vietnam, the Cold War, Desert Storm, the War on Terror and his penchant for memos, reveals a man who is more concerned with semantics and rhetoric than with the effects of that language.  trailer

NEIGHBORS  (R)  96min
Raunchy funny, this new comedy from director Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) stars Seth Rogan and Rose Byrne as new parents who become conflicted when the vacant house next door is sold to a college fraternity.  Young enough to still feel cool, they try to befriend the president (Zac Efron) and his vp (Dave Franco) and hang with the boys next door, only to do an about face when the party goes to the wee hours and the volume stays at eleven.  When they call the cops, all bets are off as their feud and resultant revenge escalates.  trailer

CHEF  (R)  115min
When Jon Favreau (Elf, Iron Man) first started, he made small, hip films (Swingers, Made).  He retreats from Hollywood with this delightful and entertaining gem about a creative, high-end Los Angeles chef who suddenly finds himself out of work and ends up in Miami taking possession of a food truck and heading out on the road with his son, through New Orleans and Austin en route back home, hoping to reignite his passion for the kitchen and his zest for love and life.  It is a sweetly funny film with scrumptious food scenes.  trailer
