It is trying so hard (although rather ineffectively, I'd say) to be spring. This schedule runs right up to Memorial Day weekend, so let's hope for some gorgeous days to enjoy before we are inundated with bugs! Maybe they all froze this winter?
This coming Sunday at 1pm we will be hosting a screening of the film A PLACE AT THE TABLE for the benefit of the Bar Harbor Food Pantry. Admission is by suggested donation of $5 or an equivalent in non-perishable food item (which is not what the printed schedule says..... /:-| my bad....) Afterwards there will be discussion on local food security resources and how people can help. And following the screening, another fundraiser for the Food Pantry, the 6th Annual Chef's Fiesta!, will take place at Amigo del Diablo. Please support their good work of the Food Pantry in our community however you can.
With graduation season and the end of the school year upon us (at least getting closer!), we remind you that Reel Pizza Gift Certificates and Big Ticket passes are appreciated by all and make a great gift. Available every evening at the box office or through the mail (PO Box 625 Bar Harbor 04609) or by calling the theater 288-3828.
And for those who are waiting (like me too), we WILL play GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, but it is still not available for a week-long booking. We keep asking and will screen as soon as we can; thanks for your patience.

In 2007, an amateur Chicago historian, John Maloof, purchased a box at auction full of undeveloped film and negatives. When he looked at what he’d bought, he discovered a fantastic trove of thousands of photographs of Chicago’s people and neighborhoods from the 1950s into the 1990s, taken by a woman named Vivian Maier. Intrigued, he started to investigate this unknown artist, whose work is now compared to Diane Arbus, Weegee, and Dorothea Lange. He learned she was a reclusive nanny to wealthy Chicagoans, including Phil Donahue, and rarely even printed her work.
