[Reel Pizza] update May 14 - 23

hi Everyone!

Here is the Reel Pizza program for the next week or so.  Starting tonight (Tuesday) we play Quebecois farcical comedy STARBUCK (R) at 5:30 and 7:45.  This film plays thru Thursday, but we have pre-empted the final (7:45) screening on Thursday night so that we may open STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, which will screen at 8:15.  Tickets go on sale at 4:30 the day of the show.  STAR TREK will continue for two weeks.  We are also in an initial run of THE GREAT GATSBY (PG-13) which continues thru May 23.

Still working on the next schedule that starts Memorial Day weekend.  Once it is confirmed, we will let you know what is coming up.

See you soon!

THE GREAT GATSBY  (PG-13)  142min   5:00 and 8:00
Brand new!  Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher star in Baz Luhrman’s adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic tragic novel.  Maguire is Nick Carraway, who moves from the Midwest to Long Island in 1922 where his cousin Daisy (Carey Mulligan) is.   DiCaprio is Jay Gatsby, the mysterious millionaire who lives across the bay from Daisy and her philandering wealthy husband Tom (Joel Edgerton).  Nick bears witness to the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits.

Tues May 14 - Thurs May 16
STARBUCK  (R)  109min  [in French with subtitles]   5:30 and 7:45  (no later show on Thurs)
In this funny Québécois farce, David Wasniak (Patrick Huard) is a lovable but perpetual screw-up.   A slacker truck driver, he has just learned that his pregnant girlfriend is done with him.  When he realizes his past has caught up with him he decides to take control of his life.  A prolific sperm donor in his youth, he discovers that he has fathered over 500 children, and 142 of his offspring are suing the fertility clinic to reveal the identity of the productive donor “Starbuck”.  Should he maintain his anonymity or reveal himself?  This film from director Ken Scott is goofy and delightful.

Thurs
May 16 - Thurs May 30 (two weeks)
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS  (PG-13)  133min   5:30 and 8:15  (no early show 5/16)
Brand New!  As the crew of the Starship Enterprise, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Anton Yelchin reprise their roles from director JJ Adams’ terrific 2009 Star Trek reboot.  In this explosive action thriller, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth in the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization.  In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice and they are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death.
