[Reel Pizza] update June 15 - 22

Sending out Big-Time graduation congratulations to all our island 8th graders this week, a group which includes both our kids!  (Oh my! it's hard to believe, but it's true...)  MDI HS here they come!

And Happy Father's Day to all the hardworking, fun-loving dads out there!  Perhaps you will celebrate by attending the TEMPO Youth Orchestra performance at the St Savior's Church beginning at 2pm.  We will be there watching our Chloe and many other talented local kids make beautiful music with a (mostly) Celtic theme.

This coming week we have two brand-new popular movies, both running the full week, to start off summer vacation with a bang.  See you soon!

MADAGASCAR 3: CONTINENTAL DRIFT  (PG) 85min  5:30  and 7:30
Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller), Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock), Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) are still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple and of course, King Julien (Sasha Baron Cohen), Maurice (Cedric the Entertainer) and the Penguins are all along for the ride. Their journey takes them through Europe where they find the perfect cover without attracting attention: a traveling circus, but soon they are being chased down by a psychotic animal control officer (Frances McDormand).  It’s a silly and very fun action adventure that is sure to please the whole family.

Friday June 15 - Thursday June 21
ROCK OF AGES (PG-13)  123min   6:00 and 8:30
A small town Midwestern girl (Julianna Hough) and an aspiring rocker and city boy (Diego Boneta) meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. The romance of these young dreamers working in a rock club plays out through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake and more, while a wily developer is trying to convince the city to remake the strip from its “sex, drugs and rock’n’roll” image into one of “cleaner living.”  Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand and Mary J. Blige co-star in the new film from director Adam Shankman (Hairspray) based on the Broadway show.
