[Reel Pizza] update

Good Morning everyone

Lots going on here at Reel Pizza.

The FARMERS MARKET continues on Wednesdays 9am to 1pm. Flowers, cheeses,
seasonal veggies, breakfast snacks and hot soups, seedlings, meats and
more, plus lots of great people. See you here!

On Friday night we will begin our summer late night series with the first
installment of IMPRO-VISION, our collaboration with the wonderful folks at
ImprovAcadia. The show starts at 11pm (have a coffee after dinner!) and
prepare to laugh out loud at the direction they decide to take a cheesy B
movie that Chris has selected just for the occasion. We will have
IMPRO-VISION also on Friday June 12th and Friday June 19th. In July and
August we will be doing them on every other Sunday. We will also soon be
scheduling ROCK'n'REEL, silent films with local bands accompanying, and
PROGRAM-O-RAMA, our audience submission nights.

When you are in town, don't forget to check out WEDN at 1630AM, Bar
Harbor's new low-powered radio station transmitting from the roof of Reel
Pizza. It's range is about 5 miles radius from our building. If you are
interested in programming (think starting in the fall), talk to Chris or
send me an email and we will let you know when we will be getting together
with station master Chuck Begin.

Film
Now playing through Thursday June 4th
FADOS (NR) 88 min [Lyrics in PORTUGUESE with subtitles] 6:00 and 8:00 and
NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN (PG) 105min 5:30 and 7:45

BRAND NEW starting Friday
Fri June 5 - 11
LAND OF THE LOST (PG-13) 93min 6:00 and 8:00
Sid and Marty Krofft's classic TV series get a spectacularly madcap update
from director Brad Silberling (Lemony Snicket) and always funny star Will
Ferrell, who plays has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall. He has been
sucked into a space time vortex and ejected into an alternative universe
full of maurauding dinosaurs and other fantastic creatures. Joining him
are his smart assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a red-neck survivalist Will
(Danny McBride, Tropic Thunder). Can they brainstorm their way home or
are they stuck in this hybrid dimension forever??

Friday June 5 - Monday June 8
THE WAY WE GET BY (NR) 86min 5:30 and 7:30
We are always delighted to show documentary films by Mainers, this one
directed by Old Town native Aron Gaudet, especially one whose subject is
Mainers. Penobscot county residents 86 year old Bill Knight, 75 year old
Joan Gaudet, and 73 year old Jerry Mundy show the best part of our
collective goodness, as this remarkable film shows how their kindness
transforms their lives. These three determined senior citizens, honorably
and dutifully no matter the hour, have been greeting all our troops as
they pass through Bangor International Airport, the last USA stop on their
way to or first stop when returning from serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.
But this award-winning movie is also a deeply moving, compassionate and
inspiring story about aging, loneliness, war and mortality that reminds of
the heartbreak and redemption of our elders so often cast aside in our
youth-honoring culture.

Tuesday June 9 - Thursday June 11
TULPAN (NR) 100min [in KAZAKH and RUSSIAN with subtitles] 5:30 and 7:45
In this gently absurd, quite funny and gorgeous comedy, a shy young man,
just returned to the vast Kazakh steppe home of his sister from his
military service in the Russian Navy, is trying to woo the only
marriage-age girl for many kilometers with outrageous tales of slaying
giant sea creatures. Only after marrying may he start his own
hardscrabble existence in this desolate land, get his own yurt, and tend
his own flock of sheep. Hiding behind a curtain, the girl says his ears
are too big, but he is undeterred from proving his worth. Cannes winner
of the Prix Un Certain Regard and the first feature from acclaimed
ethnographic documentarian Sergey Dvortsevoy, this crowd-pleasing,
accessible film is full of exquisite nature photography and an observant,
intimate look at a vanishing way of life.

For planning purposes, please note we will be showing UP from June 12 - 18
and STAR TREK from June 12 - 15. The rest of the schedule will be coming
to you shortly.

See you soon
-Lisa and Chris
