[Reel Pizza] update May 18 - 24

Hi everyone

Tonight is the final night for SOUND OF NOISE, which Chris says is probably his favorite film so far this year.  Funny, well-made, brilliantly choreographed...he is all over it.  If you can make time, it plays at 5:30 and 7:45.

I should know that the week I put a new schedule together, I am always late with the update!  We have a busy weekend ahead of us.  Don't let the nice weather deter you from coming in to check out some of the beautiful nature films that we will be screening as part of the family friendly WILDLIFE CONSERVATION FILM FESTIVAL.  Every program will be different, made up of  a number of short films, and the subjects all look interesting.  We have two screenings Friday and Monday, and three on Sat and Sunday, as we are starting a bit early on the weekend.  Perhaps you still have the detailed program I sent out at the beginning of the month with all the descriptions....   If not they are here also http://mainewcff.com/Schedule.html  and briefly below.  Did you know that Friday May 18th is the 7th anniversary of Endangered Species Day and May has been declared by our governor Endangered Species Month in Maine?  Come show your support by attending a film series of your choice!  ps.  Each film series is $8adults/$7 Seniors & Students with ID; no BIG TICKETS accepted for this special programming.

And if you missed AVENGERS (like me!), this is your week to catch up.

Also, Saturday morning, our parking lot will be the site of the Craft Fair portion of the Bar Harbor Sidewalk Stroll presented by the Bar Harbor Merchants Association.  9am to 3pm rain or shine (I guess we don't have to worry about that this year!)  I am sure you will find some nice things....graduations gifts perhaps?

Fri 5/18 - Mon 5/21   WILDLIFE CONSERVATION FILM FESTIVAL
Fri and Mon at 6:00 and 8:15
Sat and Sun at 4:00, 6:15, and 8:30
Tues 5/22 - Thurs 5/24    JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI  (PG)  6:00 and 8:00

MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS  (PG-13)  143min  5:30 and 8:30
This highly anticipated film brings together Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America and friends (including Nick Fury and Black Widow) to save the world from Loki, Thor’s bitter brother who has stolen the Tesseract, a blue cube that gives its bearer unlimited power and a portal to outer-space.  Director/screenwriter Joss Whedon (Thor, Serenity) deftly balances all these superheroes, giving each a time to shine while also having a lot of smart and fast-paced fun with the story.

JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI (PG)  81min [in Japanese with subtitles]
6:00 and 8:00
Eighty-five year old Jiro Ono, whose unassuming, 10-seat sushi restaurant, located inauspiciously in a Tokyo subway station yet earned a coveted 3 star Michelin review, is considered by many to be the world’s greatest sushi chef.  This humble man has spent his entire life dedicated to the perfection of his craft, a never-ending quest for simplicity that indicates true purity.   Filmmaker and sushi lover David Gelb’s delightful documentary is not just absolutely beautiful food porn, but it also examines the life of this singular man, a living treasure in Japan, and his effect on his two sons, the younger off running his own restaurant, the elder still apprenticed to his father waiting to take over the family business.
