Here is the next schedule of films at Reel Pizza that runs July 9th through July 29th. As was last time, these next three weeks are fully booked, so times are included for all films. We have a late night special IMPROVISION again this round, and some special art, part of a summer benefit for the MDI Skatepark Association. Also, we will not be continuing the 10:30 shows of TWILIGHT. Just 5:30 and 8:00, through Thursday 7/8. Hope summer is treating you well, and we will see you soon, at the movies!

With the sound turned off, this ever-changing group of up-and-coming comedians improvise the dialogue, music tracks and sound effects to a cheesy, grade-B movie, THAT THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE! Their talents make the pictures on the screen way funnier than they were ever anticipated. It's a totally new show every time. Don't miss out on all the fun.
LOBBY ART DeckedOut on MDI Skateboard Deck Art Show a MDI SKATEPARK ASSOCIATION BENEFIT
The Mount Desert Island Skatepark Association is raising money toward the goal of building a permanent, in-ground, concrete skatepark for Mount Desert Islanders and our visitors. This summer Fun-Raiser celebrates the history of Skateboarding Art with a number of across-island events, including a show of skateboards decks decorated by local artists, displayed for a month around town including Reel Pizza, culminating in a Gala Event/Silent Auction on Aug 12 in Northeast Harbor. Without a skate park, our local village greens, town parks, parking lots, sidewalks and streets become skateparks. Help keep everyone safe: Help Us Build A Park! www.mdiskateparkassociation.wordpress.com

TOY STORY 3 (G) 103min 5:30 and 8:00
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND
Pixar's debut film, the first Toy Story, brought their excellent animation and storytelling skills to the attention of the public. Its sequel was even better, and the intervening decade has only improved the reputation of this venerable studio, now a division of Disney. This new episode in the amazing adventures of Woody, Buzz and the gang is sure to be consistently funny, exciting and moving, as the departure of once young Andy, now off to college, leaves the fate of our favorite toys uncertain. Directed by Lee Ulrich (co-director of Finding Nemo and Toy Story 2) from a screenplay by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine), stars Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz), Joan Cusack (Jessie), and Don Rickles (Mr. Potato Head) reprise their voicework.
Fri July 9 - Mon July 12
GET HIM TO THE GREEK (R) 109min 6:00 and 8:30
Jonah Hill and Russell Brand reunite with their Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller in this crassly funny and fully entertaining comedy about an ambitious assistant to a record company president (Sean Combs nearly steals the show). The star struck young man has just been granted a dream job to escort a has-been rock legend from London, through New York, to Los Angeles for a concert kicking off a comeback tour. If only it were that easy especially as both are getting over broken relationships. This year's Judd Apatow produced comedy is smart and funny, with likable characters well acted.
Tues July 13 - Thurs July 15
THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES (R) 127min [in Spanish with subtitles} 6:00 and 8:30
This year's surprising Oscar Winner from Argentinan director Juan José Campanella, bested a selection of quality films, but it is no less worthy. This taut thriller, substantially exploring the power of memory to shape and influence both the present and the future, is about an unsolved murder that still, a quarter century later, haunts the original investigator (Ricardo Darin, Nine Queens). He is trying for closure by writing it as a story. He takes a draft to his long ago boss (Soledad Villamil), and the story of their unrequited relationship adds romance. His alcoholic work partner (Argentine comic Guillermo Francella) brings a comic element to this winning film.

INCEPTION (PG-13) 142min 5:30 and 8:30 possible Thurs eve 7/15 show, time TBA
One of the most anticipated films of the summer, the new film from Christopher Nolan (Memento, Dark Knight) is cloaked in a veil of secrecy. However, it is known that this sci-fi thriller stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a dream thief whose forte is stealing secrets from deep within the sub-conscious when the mind is most vulnerable. His success has made him an international fugitive, but one last job could give him his life back. He must do the reverse, planting an idea into someone's mind. But the enemy is seemingly able to predict his every move. Also stars Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, and Michael Caine.

Help arrives in the form of his apartment building's maintenance man (Jackie Chan) who has a secret. He is a master martial artist and agrees to teach the young man. But his lesson that to win he must learn maturity and calm makes Dre realize that facing the bullies will be the fight of his life. This absorbing remake of the 1984 original is directed by Harold Zwart.
Tues July 20 - Thurs July 22
OCEANS (G) 74min 6:00 and 8:00
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND
With few words (minimal narration is by actor Pierce Brosnan), symphonic music, and exquisite cinematography using cutting edge underwater photography, filmmakers Jacques Perrin (Winged Migration, Microcosmos) and Jacques Cluzaud present both the bizarre, otherworldly species and common critters that inhabit various niches of the Earth's ocean's ecosystems for our viewing pleasure. From the Great Barrier Reef to the Arctic Ocean, to the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas, discover a part of the life of a blanket octopus, mobula ray, marine iguana, sea nettle, stonefish, blue whale, walrus, garden eel, spinner dolphin, sea lion, baby sea turtle, penguin, sea urchin larva, horseshoe crab, and much more, all of whose mysterious existences combine to keep life in the balance in the watery realm beneath the waves. Also included are the unfortunate effects that humans continue to make on this forgiving but fragile habitat.

CITY ISLAND (PG-13) 100min 6:00 and 8:15
Every member of this proud, loud and quite dysfunctional Bronx family has at least one big secret. The grown daughter, expelled from college, is working as a pole dancer at a strip. The teenaged son lives in an internet fantasy world where he obsesses over watching fat women eat. Mom (Julianna Margulies) sneaks cigarettes even though she's adamant she's quit, and is sure her hubby is having an affair, so maybe she'll have one too. Prison guard Dad (Andy Garcia) says he's playing poker with the guys, but is really taking acting classes (Alan Arkin is the teacher). Then he brings home an ex-con, who no one except him knows is his illegitimate son he's never met. This eccentric, lovable film from director Raymond de Felitta is a charming and humanity filled comedy.
Tues July 27 - Thurs July 29
PLEASE GIVE (R) 91min 6:00 and 8:00
Nicole Holofcener (Walking and Talking, Lovely and Amazing) continues her string of excellent films featuring credible female characters with flaws and strengths, speaking sophisticated, believable dialog in this hilarious, heartfelt and original comedy of urban manners. Catherine Keener stars (as she has in all the director's films) as Kate, a middle-aged New Yorker, who with her husband Alex (Oliver Platt) operates a successful vintage furniture store; their inventory comes from inexpensive estate sales. Kate feels guilty that she is taking advantage of the bereaved for personal gain. She is also guilty about the increasing materialism of her teenaged daughter. And they have already bought the adjacent apartment of the bitter, elderly lady (Ann Guilbert), ready to expand their living space as soon as she dies. More guilt. To assuage, Kate invites her neighbor and her two grown granddaughters who take care of her (Amanda Peet and Rebecca Hall) to dinner, with disastrous consequences.
