[Reel Pizza] update Sept 18 - 24

Hey everyone.

Busy week ahead of us.

Tonight thru Thursday we have the last days of MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. and the extreme climbing film MERU.  (note, if you can't get to our screenings of MERU, it plays at the Alamo Theatre in Bucksport this coming weekend:  Fri/Sat at 7, Sun at 2)

Then Friday we start our 7th annual MIFF By-the-Sea Film Festival!  We are really excited for this year's event; we have several filmmakers who will be attending the opening night reception (the public is welcome to this ticketed event), and will also be speaking at at least one if not two of their screenings.  All the info is on the website, and was recently in your inbox, and the printed programs are available at the theater, Plus advance tickets are on sale now.  You can buy individual tickets (which are $8) to any screening, or if you are interested in more than one or two, you (and a friend, if you'd like) can go in on a pass to give you a price discount.  We offer 6 and 10 punch passes that two people can share, and a festival pass that gets you into everything.  Please be aware that BIG TICKETS will not get you into any of the MIFF By-the-Sea screenings.

If you want to go all out, you can see all the pictures (if not all the speakers) if you go in this order:
Fri: Dr Myes, The Living Green, In the Crosswind, Improvision
Sat:  After Winter, Quebekoisie, Astraea, Hancock County Shorts, The Hungry Years
Sun:  Angkor's Children, Children of the Arctic, The Congressman, The Epic of Everest
Mon: Come to My Voice, Theeb.

Then after the festival is all done, we have more excitement for you in the middle of next week.
We will have our regular two films, AMY about the young singer Amy Winehouse, and Woody Allen's latest picture IRRATIONAL MAN.  However, the early show of AMY on Wednesday is being pre-empted by a special presentation of the new movie THE REFLEKTOR TAPES by the band Arcade Fire - two of the band's members' parents and grandparents live on MDI and we always enjoy supporting and presenting our local celebrities' film events.  Jazz harpist (and band mom) Liza Rey Butler will have pre-release copies of her new CD on sale.  Come enjoy the music!

Below is the schedule, and feel free to call if you want clarification, we understand there is a lot going on, and the schedule could be confusing!

Hope to see you this weekend!
