Apparently my ESP was a little off the mark, and this coming week's
film was not listed on the schedule; for any confusion that causes, I
apologize. But this could be the perfect film for those who might
not want to spend the week watching baseball...

the first for director Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth). Set in the middle
of her reign, this sumptuous costume drama and gripping historical
thriller finds the monarch facing blood-lust for her throne and
familial betrayal. The Spanish King, challenging her rule with his
powerful army and armada, is determined to restore England to
Catholicism. Her trusted advisor (Geoffrey Rush, reprising his role)
discovers an assassination plot. Meanwhile this virgin queen has
become unwittingly besotted with the dashing Sir Walter Raleigh
(Clive Owen) who himself finds attraction with the Queen's most
favored lady in waiting (Abbie Cornish).
