We will be closing up after our first shows in deference to tonight's Independence Day festivities. Please notice the earlier start time (8:30) for tonight's fireworks display at the Bar Harbor Pier. With any luck, they might just beat the impending weather!! -L
Weather's on its way, but if you or any of your customers are planning please make sure to be here by 8:30pm as we may need to shoot them off a little early to beat the storm.
Here's our week's schedule. Don't forget four things. One, we are AIR CONDITIONED! Important because it's been hot, hot, hot! Two, both films screen for the entire week. Three, on Friday July 4th, we won't be screening later films in deference to the fabulous fireworks display. We will have our early evening shows, and be back to our regular schedule on Sat. Please keep your fingers crossed that there is no rain delay, but we will maintain this schedule no matter what happens with the weather. And Four, we have the next edition of Improvision this weekend, on Sunday at 11:00pm. Hope to see you here.
See you soon. Happy Fourth!

Sunday July 6 IMPROVISION (NR) 11:00pm This is our occasional collaboration between the comic talents of ImprovAcadia and Chris's B Movie collection. In a randomly selected genre determined by a spin of the wheel, this ever-changing group of up-and-coming talents improvise - on the fly - the dialogue, sounds, songs and music to a cheesy movie, played without sound, that they have never seen before. It is a new show every time and always a lot of fun.

Tues. Jul 1 - Thurs. Jul 3 ERNEST & CÉLESTINE(PG)80min 5:30 & 7:30 This enchanting Oscar-nominated animated feature is based on the beloved story of a friendship between a plucky artistic mouse and a burly musical bear by Belgian children’s author and illustrator Gabrielle Vincent. These two misfits, after many adventures, become inseparable, as well as fugitives from their respective laws, as the bears and mice are not meant to be friends.Telling a charming story with brilliant comic timing, directors Stéphane Aubier and Vincent Patar (A Town Called Panic, highly recommended) have created richly detailed worlds for both mouse and bear in a film that look like a gorgeous watercolor painting come to life.Trailer
I guess it is safe to say summer has arrived. At least school is finally out ~ Hurrah! Congratulations to the island's 8th graders on their recent graduation!
This schedule is complete, and this time each film plays for a full week, with the brand new DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES playing for two weeks starting on the July 11th opening. Hopefully, everyone will get a chance to see these popular movies during the height of summer craziness. We will likely return to our normal format for the next go-round.
We have two special programs this month. On Sunday July 6th at 11pm IMPROVISION returns with another wacky episode of our occasional collaboration with the talented comics from ImprovAcadia. On Sunday July 20th we host the next installment in our Sierra Club Summer Matinee series with a free screening of A FIERCE GREEN FIRE including special guest, former Commissioner of the Maine Department of Conservation Pat McGowan, at 2pm.
Please stop by and see the beautiful woodcut prints of scenes on MDI by the talented Blue Butterfield. They will remind you of why you live/visit here. AND Don't forget that on Fourth of July we will only screen our earlier shows so that everyone can get to the fireworks or get out of town before the traffic jam, whichever is your pleasure! If the evening festivities are rained out, we will remain closed after our first shows on 7/4, and will run our regular program all other nights even if the fireworks are rescheduled.
See you soon. -Lisa and Chris
